CASEMENT
DOOR:
A
casement is a type of window that swings open on a hinge, like a door. Open the casements in the kitchen and let the breeze come
in! Before the invention of the sash window, which slides up and down,
casements were very common.
FRENCH
DOOR:
The
elegance and appeal of French doors hinges on the fact that they are actually
not one but two doors placed side by side. The hinges are placed on the outer opposite
sides of the frame, with handles placed close together to allow the doors to
swing open from the middle.
SLIDING
DOOR:
a door that opens and closes by sliding sideways instead of
by swinging on hinges. A sliding door is a type of door which
opens horizontally by sliding, usually horizontal to a wall. Sliding doors can
be mounted either on top of a track below or be suspended from a track above.
